Miranda Locke was a member of the Locke family, and the sister of Benjamin Locke and Joshua Locke.

Along with Adam Crais, she fought in the Revolutionary War, with the aid of some of her brother's keys.[1]

History[]

In the year 1775, Miranda's family allowed a Minutemen militia led by Adam Crais to hide inside the Drowning Caves, while weapons for them were secretly forged by the Lockes.[2] On January 13, 1775, Miranda's parents were hanged for assisting the Minutemen.[3] After the British commandeered Keyhouse Manor as a base for the soldiers, Miranda and her younger brother, Benjamin, were forced to live in the Wellhouse.

The next day, the siblings traveled to the Drowning Caves where their brother Joshua and Crais' militia were. However, Crais revealed to the siblings that Joshua was among many soldiers murdered by Harm Timmerman, to their despair, shortly after they found a strange door filled with eldritch beings. Crais took them to where Harm was, and Miranda vindictively interrogated Harm for killing her brother. When Fredricks came close to Harm, the latter gouged Fredricks' eye out and lunged at Miranda, though Fredricks saves her by shooting and killing Harm before he succumbs to his fatal injury. As witness to the beings behind the Black Door, Ben and Miranda resolved to keep the Door closed in order to protect Massachusetts.

After the events that happened in the Drowning Caves, Ben started making keys with the Whispering Iron he found in the cave, beginning with the first key, the Omega Key.[2]

In the wake of the American Revolution, Miranda became obsessed with revenge against the British for the deaths of Joshua and their parents. She decided to join Crais' militia by using Benjamin's keys to fight. Among these keys were the Head Key, which Miranda used to gain combat experience and even removed her own fear to become a better soldier, and the Gender Key in order to become a man and enlist in the army.

Later, the Mending Cabinet and the Mending Key were used by Benjamin in order to heal Miranda when she was injured while fighting.[1]
